When clients are asked about meeting with Jamie Trzeciak for the first time, they most frequently cite his curiosity.
Jamie asked a lot of questions about how we plan to live in the space and genuinely listened. He didn’t leave before making sure all of our questions were answered too.
Customer Feedback
It doesn’t take much effort to sell cabinets to people looking to create a new space, but Trzeciak isn’t a salesman. He’s a craftsman. It’s that impulse that drives him to take the time to really get to know his customers and what they really want to get out of these new areas in their office, kitchen, or other place he may be creating.
“There are infinite options when it comes to custom cabinets, but in the end it’s about creating place.” It is with this attitude Jamie approaches his work and that is why his customers (and we) love him.
When talking with Jamie and 4C about cabinets, you will find that we have a unique approach. We get to know you first. That is the key.
We aren’t building the cabinet boxes for the things you put inside, but how you will live in the space. The box is what demands to be used in a certain way. It creates its own vibe and can make or break the functionality of the space.
Jamie sat down to tell us (the author of this page…) exactly what his appointments look like and what it is like to purchase from 4C.
Jamie’s Process
“What I do is I take my measurements, we go over the layout, basically for what she wants, and then I come back to the computer. That’s where I make a layout for her, or for the couple.
Then I will make another meeting with them and we’ll go over the layout. They’ll see a 3D perspective of their space and how it’s going to look. I can change colors and basically you can do anything with this program. So by the end of that meeting, we’re going to get they layout where they want it. That’s when I’ll do my second field measure to start the manufacturing process.
The measurements are key and I certainly honor the social distancing and and wear a mask while I am in there because it’s hard for me to give them a price without getting into the space. If I don’t know what the exact dimensions are we can’t deliver a great product. You see, stock cabinets typically come in increments of three. If we went stock, it would be a lot easier. ‘There’s a 9 inch there and a 12 there and a 15 and so on and so forth.’ But at 4C, we can make your cabinets any size you want. So it’s important to get in there.
Field adjustments are something I do frequently. Some example adjustments I might make there in the field are if it’s are if you haven’t reached their budget or something along those lines. Well, she can add things in or she can subtract things. Roll out trays, big, big thing. That’s an option. She might want a cutlery drawer in this drawer here, or she might want a roll out tray in this box over here. If it’s something that hasn’t come up yet, we’ll put a cutlery drawer or you know system in there for her.”
Options
The options are endless, but we’ve also found some things we know are high quality and the majority of our customers are likely to want and we’ve assembled all the best ideas into the Capital Collection, our line of boxes that we’ve recently put into the market.
We spend a lot of time educating our customers who don’t know that much about cabinets. To someone who doesn’t know much about cabinets, okay, well, first we’re likely going to make it out of particleboard or MDF whichever they choose. Oftentimes people don’t know that this material is of much higher quality than hardwood or some other acrylic material.
We don’t typically suggest plywood in a frameless construction box. It can twist too much and it react too much to moisture . When you’re looking for a frameless contemporary design, you want straight lines. You can spot a crooked cabinet right away and we can’t have that.
Throughout the process we are fanatical about communication. Something as simple as just a quick text or an email saying “Your materials arrived today, and we’re waiting on some hinges and some slides, but it’s going into production next week. We’re expecting the job to take four days.”
Communication is key, especially when customers are writing five figure checks, Right? We always have done that and always will do that. Whether it’s Be a countertop or a full blown kitchen.
There’s always a vast difference in the mind’s eye between reality and showroom pictures on Pinterest. When customers are looking at stuff on the web, like pictures of kitchens. There’s usually a reason they are on the web and those pictures are taken professionally. Like food photography, they put together those boxes for that picture. The functionality So we get into the granularity and help educate the customers in the initial consultation.
